dog mom

A new week, a new blog. Currently writing this from the comfort of my bed snuggled under all of my blankets… yes, the room is 68° with the ceiling fan and also my bedside table fan on and yes I am under probably 10 lbs worth of blankets.. let me live my life…

So last week was a little scary for me, the crazy puppy mom. As you know, Hemingway (my sweet and spoiled pup) is fully potty trained and growing up! Well, we had an incident. Actually, 2 of them. In the house, inappropriately. I kinda laughed the first time off on the fact he was probably mad at me for not letting him play in the mud puddles in the backyard (mama is so mean!) and giving him a bath, and so he revenge peed by the door… okay, I honestly don’t blame him. Life is hard when you sleep all day and get all the treats and belly rubs and kisses…. currently writing this watching him completely passed out on top of the couch…

However, I didn’t really notice a problem until the next time it happened, not even 12 hours later. Of course, me, the hypochondriac paranoid who always thinks I’m dying, has passed this fear onto my fur child, therefore I went on Pet Web MD (a very scary place to go) and did some research. I called the vet and was certain something was wrong. He’s a good boy and also, is a total princess. He won’t even pee normally unless he’s on nice soft grass (PRINCESS!!!) Anyways, the vet told me to bring in a sample of his urine… okay in theory, totally fine. But I’m sorry, he’s a dog??? Alas. After chasing him around the yard with a cup, waiting for him to squat down, I got it. Barely. He was extremely confused as to why mom was so close to him during such an event but I did it. Extremely proud, highly disturbed.

Anyways, later that day I got a call back from the vet who told me that he has crystals in his bladder caused by an imbalance of his Ph…I have him on antibiotics and should be getting his culture results back in a few days. This of course, meant that his problem wouldn’t really be solved soon…. so, that’s when Mama Alexandra came into the picture. Let’s just say he wasn’t a big fan of the solution but it worked out well enough. Pictures to follow.

So yeah he hates the diapers but you gotta do what you gotta do. He’s feeling a lot better, the antibiotics are kicking in and doing their job, thank gosh. I’m just really glad I was so aware and called about it. Also. Please forgive me, I take way too much photos of him but can you blame me?

New best friends….

Finishing up my last 2 weeks of classes for this term! Which I’m thrilled about but man, the time has gone by so quick! Time goes by when you’re in a pandemic…… not really actually. I have seriously really enjoyed my time doing what I love. I’m also excited for a week off before my new courses to begin, a mini refresh if you will…. working hard is actually a ton of fun for me. I know, nerdy. You know, I’m honestly really proud of myself. Personally I know that I need to have something going on at all times and these past few months, finishing my undergrad online was honestly so difficult for me. I just was not interested in the material, even though it’s my passion. I really lost that spark I think. And while I am so glad I got to rest my body and mind (maybe?) for a few months, I am glad I continued on with my goals and didn’t settle because I know for sure I would have regretted my decision. And also the fact that no one really hires philosophy majors especially in the middle of a pandemic;)

My face.

Have the best week… I know I will! Minus 2 more sleeps till Josh is here! Hemy is casually obsessed with Josh so we’ll see who is more excited to see who 😉
