When life gives you lemons

Hello friends.

So, it’s been a crazy 24 hours.

My day started off normally, had an exam in my history class and I ate a nice lunch. On Monday, I was at work and my car died. Odd, but I had gotten it started up and went about my day like nothing was wrong. Skip ahead to yesterday afternoon, a gorgeous day out, I felt great, I looked great, the sun was out and it was a blazing 90 degrees. I was a happy girl. So, here I am on my way to work, and my wheel completely locks up on me as I turn off the highway to exit. First off, I am a dramatic woman, and thought I was going to die. SPOILER: I didn’t, however my car did on the side of the road right in the middle of traffic. I like attention, but not that much. Being the adult woman I am, I screamed bloody murder in my car, annoyed at the idea that my whole day was ruined.

me, stuck in the middle of the road.

Mind you, I nanny two sweet little kids on the weekdays and they were waiting for me. Tip: when in crisis, call a kid and force yourself to talk in a soft manner. My little girl changed my whole attitude. I calmed down and called who I needed to call. Now, my mama raised a smart girl, but also a paranoid one. Forever I was told to never open my doors or windows if I ever broke down on the side of the road. Yeah, so I almost died of heat exhaustion but finally stepped out of the car for some fresh air. I was far enough up to not get caught in the light, but there was a two car accident behind me, because of how congested the lane had gotten. Again, I like attention, but not like this. So, the police show up. Not only do three police cars show up, but also an ambulance and firetruck. The accident behind me was a small fender bender, but I guess someone had called saying that there was a girl in her car who didn’t look like she was conscious. I.E, me. I had shut my eyes and leaned my chair back, waiting on AAA to come tow my car, and I was meditating a bit to chill me out.

blog66,

When life gives you a dead car in the middle of the road, 5 cute firemen and police officers push your car a mile up a hill.

me in my car steering while they pushed me up a hill. What even is my life?

At this point, I had been stuck on the side of the road for two hours and had sweat out all of the water in my body. The tow truck guy came to pick me up and I think I almost cried when I saw in his truck with the AC blowing fully on me. When I got back to Fayetteville, my roommate came and picked me up and we went  out for a drink. That drink turned into two and we found ourselves in the middle of a dance party, dancing away our troubles, until we woke up this morning with some fun little headaches. Being young and 21 is actually fun.

blog66.

I had a full blog post planned for you folks, but needed to fill you in on my life. I got the call today that my engine is shot and I either need a new one or a new car. However….. It’s going to be okay. I have to keep reminding myself that. It’s all meant to happen. Because as much as I was sweating bullets this morning, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life. If this is the worst thing that is going to happen to me this week, or month, or year, I’ll take it. Learning to love and embrace my bad days as much as my good ones.

sisters. So cute.

*Alexandra Edit* My dad just called me and is bringing me my mom’s car until mine can get fixed. MY FAMILY ROCKS. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

However, in the middle of all the excitement yesterday, I got the news that was accepted into the IV Next Program, which will allow me to travel to Greece for two weeks this summer! This has been something I have kept quiet about, not being sure if I would get accepted or not! So, I will be in Hawaii for 2 weeks and then leave directly from Hawaii to New York to fly out to Athens. FOLKS, get ready for a great summer with me. I’m excited to bring you along.

Today’s Mantra:

I AM here for the good and bad.”

loving all my bad days as much as my good ones.

blessings, a
