I had a different theme planned for today’s post, however some recent events made me decide to write about something different. (No worries, I will post my other one next week)….I write this today with tears in my eyes, a heaviness in my fingers, and confusion in my heart.
“Stand up for what is right, even if you stand alone.” -Suzy Kassem
Are we morally bound to say something, even if it will make us look bad? Who would want to be a snitch? Why should we even say anything? Why get involved?
I will tell you why: We need to get involved because we are humans. We care about other humans. If something is wrong, you say something. SAY SOMETHING. DO THE RIGHT THING. Report it. Seek justice. Seek truth. Seek peace.
It blows my mind that people are too weak to want to get involved. Yes, I understand that it is easier to stay in the sidelines and watch, but sometimes, you have to get involved. How can we talk about hating bullying or animal abuse, yet let people we know get away with things, just for decency sake. Doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it sure as hell is always worth it. You have the chance to change someones life, and it is easy. Let go of your ego, your fears, and do the right thing. I hate the excuses, “I don’t want to be involved”, “It’s not my problem”….Excuse you, but the good and moral thing to do is to get involved. If it involves the life and safety of someone else, you are morally obligated to do something, than to just sit on the sidelines and hope for the best. Sometimes, we are put in situations where we have the chance to make or break someone. Why leave this up to chance, when we can be a calming hand in the storm.

I have no respect for those who can’t stand up for the abused, the hurting, or the ones who can’t speak up for themselves. Do the right thing.
