The Ambition of a Young Woman living in a Feminist, Anti-Feminist World

Happy Halloween Week everyone!

blog7.

Exciting things are happening to this blog and myself! I have been offered a position as a freelance writer for the online magazine,  Society19

I am so excited to start writing for them and look forward to the awesome opportunities that have been made available to me! Don’t worry, I will continue to blog here, publishing every Tuesday!

Also. this week has been crazy in the support I have been given. I’m doing wonderful, probably the happiest I have ever been. I am thriving and really enjoying this crazy life I am living. I am writing this blog as a sort of outlet for myself and also for others. Plenty of us feel a certain way but don’t have a platform to express how we feel and let it impact others. I’m so proud of how many of you that have come forward with your struggles. You have not gone unnoticed. Love y’all.blog7..

Today I want to discuss what it is like being a young woman with goals and ambitions. I’m going to school to reach my dream of being a University professor and no, I’m not here for my MRS degree. Ever since I declared my major, I have gotten mixed responses, however I am still surprised that most people laugh and jokingly tell me how I “better find myself a rich husband to take care of me”. Even though that may sound good for some, I am very capable of taking care of myself, thank you very much. I don’t plan on gauging my self-worth by the kind of girlfriend, wife or mother I will be. You are more than your title.

Women should support other women.

(YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!)

Women should support other women.

Why do we cut down other women? How the hell do we expect men to respect us if we can’t even respect us?? (While there is no excuse for how men and women should respect each other, but we sure can’t be hypocrites about it.) Well, let’s break it down, shall we? It comes down to….duh duh duh… Confidence. If you’re confident in yourself, why should it matter how someone is living their life. IF it doesn’t infringe on my life, then why are we judging others for their decisions? Yes. I have big curly hair. Do you not have enough going on in your life or love yourself enough that you feel obligated to look poorly upon me? (I write this in a coffee shop while watching a group of girls make fun at my wonderfully windblown curly hair on this beautiful windy fall Tuesday.) Love yourselves and love each other. It shouldn’t matter what anyone else says or does.

On Sunday afternoon, I was in a room full of beautiful men and woman. We were attending the 2017 Fall Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week   model bootcamp. I watched in awe at the confidence that my fellow models displayed. Why couldn’t we all walk and talk and be as fierce as a model on a runway? I saw tall, short, thin, curvy, black, white, brown, curly hair, straight hair, no hair, just beautiful people strutting their stuff and owning the room!

Today’s Mantra:

“I have an abundance for me and an abundance to share. I AM Thriving.”

Have a great week, loves.
