While it was a short visit, it was so so needed. I haven’t officially been home since June and I was craving family time and some DAMN GOOD GREEK FOOD.

I was feeling nervous about traveling, but I think we pulled off a pretty safe visit. We all got tested (and tested negative) before we came, and split up as families on where we were staying. We even wore masks while at the house with each other and thanksgiving lunch was socially distanced at separate tables.

Quite honestly, I just really needed to be with my family. It’s been a very long 6 months and this was the longest since I have been home to see everyone. As much as my throat hurt from talking so much (and yes, I’m a hypochondriac and thought oh god, I’m dying maybe), it was so needed for my heart.

I got all my little cousin time in, playing barbies and watching old James Bond movies. Hemy of course was living his dream, of constantly being touched and adored by everyone, the little prince. I was nervous about traveling with him, since it was his first time on a plane but can I please brag on the fact I have the very best dog? Like. He was BORN to travel. He slept the whole time and when he wasn’t sleeping, he was laying in my lap in the airport just watching everyone. He did great, and is practically famous with TSA now. I think American Airlines is going to make him their mascot. I wouldn’t blame them. He was perfect. 10/10 will be traveling with him again.

Because he is so little and furry, I can hold him like a baby on my hip. Plus, I of course am that person who has a full wardrobe of different sweaters and outfits for him for each season, so he was dressed to the nines and someone thought he was a monkey. I don’t blame them. He looks like a little Wookiee. Gah. Okay enough about him. I could go on and on.

Anyways, so this trip was really nice, obviously very different from the past thanksgivings… im am definitely a hugging person and it was difficult not to have that. But we made do.

I spent my time hanging with family, working on school stuff, and a whole lot of lounging around in my pajamas. It was a really relaxing trip, even though it went by super quick. I’ll be back to town in a few weeks again for Christmas, and I’m looking forward to it so much! Although not looking forward to hell via a Covid test. OUCH.

If you’re my Yiayia, you can stop reading right about now because I’ll probably be receiving a phone call from you soon, but before I came back to South Carolina, I treated myself to my graduation present of a new tattoo. I like to spoil myself when I think I deserve it, and have waited for about 2 years now till I graduated college. Of course, we all know how that went, so I patiently waited till I was back in town to get it done and dear lord, I absolutely love it. Thank you Connie at Jade Dragon Tattoo for always giving me the best ❤️ It hurt so bad but no, I didn’t cry and yes, I have more planned.

Well, I’m back in South Carolina and ya know, as I was flying in on Sunday, I had this little flutter of excitement in my stomach, knowing I was coming back to Charleston. And it’s the first time I’ve felt that way coming from the airport, never wanting to leave where I was. I’m glad I’m figuring life out for myself and taking care of me. It’s just the beginning, y’all!
Please enjoy this song! It’s been on repeat for about 2 weeks now.
Stay groovy. Don’t be mean. Wear a mask!
