As I have had an influx of readers and followers the past week, I wanted to introduce myself again, although I do highly suggest you take a peek at my older posts! Hint, hint.

I am a sophomore Philosophy major with a double minor in History and Religious Studies at the University of Arkansas. I am a hardworking gal with two jobs, blogger, part time model and also a life coach. My life is insane and busy and constantly going and even though I fall into bed every night exhausted beyond belief, I am so incredibly blessed to attend such a beautiful University and lead the life I do. The road has been rough, but I haven’t slowed down and don’t plan to anytime soon. I am a crazy plant lady (literally) and started this blog almost a year ago, however about 6 months ago made it public for you lovely lovely people. I publish on this blog every Tuesday afternoon at 5 o’clock and I sure do love my readers. You give me inspiration like no other and I thank you for it. I welcome you and hope you thoroughly enjoy.

Think before you speak.
I have learned this lesson from experience time and time again. I am outspoken enough as it is but I have learned that sometimes, it is best to just keep my mouth shut. What we say and what we do is constantly being analyzed and judged, even if we don’t realize it. Just last night, I had a nice little wake up call about how I addressed a certain situation and my reaction wasn’t exactly one of beauty and grace. I personally really enjoy feedback, but like anyone, sometimes we are just grumpy and don’t want to hear the TRUTH. Of course, while very innocent of me, I had to take a step back and think of it from another’s point of view.

I try to do this as much as possible, however we can all agree that it can be difficult when you think you didn’t do anything wrong at all. As embarrassing as it is, to admit we are wrong and apologize for our actions, is how we learn, through trial and error. Living in a world where political correctness is key to embracing and loving on others, I fully support it. Let us be more mindful not only of our words, but the sharpness of the tone we use. 
Today in my sociology class, we spoke about social classes and diversity. We discussed that the smallest things and decisions we associate ourselves with (fashion, food, material objects we have, and friends) play into how others perceive us. Even without thinking it, we are judging others by the outfits they wear, the music they are playing, and the cars they drive. This can be better understood using things found all over college campuses, including Greek Life, STEM majors, Business majors, PHILOSOPHY MAJORS, ect…. These all come with different stereotypes. Of course, there are many people who are apart of these organizations or degrees who don’t fit the regular stereotype, which is hard for our already made up minds to comprehend. But why are we like this? The mind is not only a mystery in the mechanical sense but also difficult to answer why we feel or act a certain way. Why must our already made up minds be the status quo, and if something differs from the usual is odd, weird, or different? This can be explained due to the fact we are all creatures of habit, in one way or another. If we weren’t, Daylight savings, (which is Sunday the 11th, spring forward!), moving schools, making new friends, our loved ones passing away, would not be such intense experiences for us. We also don’t like being wrong. If I already have decided something I deem true, is is going to be a slight blow to my intelligence if I am wrong. Let go of your ego. Imagine if we didn’t have egos, or relaxed them a bit. Imagine if we listened more than we talked. Imagine how quiet the world would be. Imagine how much we could get accomplished. 
Today, be quiet. Shut your mouth and listen. Just listen. Take it all in. Don’t spend your time while listening formulating what you will say next. Just listen and learn. You don’t realize until you open your ears and mind how much there is you don’t know.
