I hope everyone a great and safe Thanksgiving. Really sorry for no post last week! I was completely overwhelmed with school work ( hello 5 papers due Monday and Tuesday…So, the holiday was much needed for me. Personally, I ate way too much food and am now regretting it trying to get into my skinny jeans…. Time to go running… Had a really great break, went up to KC (for like, the first time in YEARS) to see my grandparents and went to the Plaza for iceskating and the Mayor’s tree lighting. If I wasn’t in the Christmas spirit before, I sure am now, even with this 70 degree weather…….

Had a really great night about a week or two ago seeing the light ceremony on the Fayetteville square with my roommate (yes, she is the cutest thing ever) and a couple of our buds for a pie, apple cider, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding movie night. It was oh so needed and I had a really great time. Shoutout to Jace for allowing us to throw our shin-dig at his place!

Let’s talk. The holidays are hard, for sure. For a crazy amount of reasons. But of course, going home and sitting around the dinner table, can be exciting and insane. Then mention politics, religion, morals….. Whew….. I love just sitting and listening to others to be able to gauge what they think and believe.
I am making this post a call to action for people to start questioning things. As a philosopher, I question most everything. Maybe I don’t talk about it, but I am definitely think about it. Question me, because I sure as hell am questioning you too.
If you stand for nothing, what’ll you fall for?
What are you beliefs? Your morals? When did you decide to follow these rules that were presented to you? Do you even know where these rules came from? These social constructs? When are we going to be comfortable and confident enough with ourselves to break through these rules society has brought upon us? Are you just taking what your grandparents, parents, and society is telling you to believe as truth? No disrespect to our family and friends, however personally, I would want to be able know that I can stand on my own two feet for what I believe and why I believe it, instead of saying “Well… my parents believe this, and I guess I believe it too”….. (My parents and grandparents and I all don’t have the same ideas but I respect and honor them enough to appreciate everything they have done for me and continue to still do for me. Even if we don’t agree on every single belief, I gotta say, they raised a pretty good kid, so they must have done something right.)
Being in America, we live in a place that allows us to question things we have had instilled in us at a very young age. But why. Who taught us these things? Politics, religion, morals, ethics…. Who made these rules and said this was right and this was wrong. What do you stand for?

For those who don’t wish to have their religion, political parties, ect; held up for examination…. Let me ask you this: If you are so confident that you are apart of the RIGHT political party or the RIGHT religion and believe the RIGHT things, why get shaky about allowing your beliefs being held up for examination? If you aren’t confident in your values that you surround your life with, then you have some major rethinking to do. Why aren’t we questioning the system, why are we keeping quiet if we don’t agree with something? Speak up.
Now this being said, please do not be ignorant and spew something you read on Facebook, as ultimate truth. Don’t be that person. And of course, please be respectful of others opinions. If you get threatened and offended by others opinions; talk less, listen more.
Proud of how far so many of you have come. Thanks for all the love and bravery.
