This week was full of twists, turns, and me realizing how truly blessed I am. First off, Fayetteville, you still have my heart fully and completely. While the weather has been fickle, THE COLORS, OHMYGOSH. I am in love. Thank you for stealing my heart yet again. Pictures by shotsfromthewoods.com

One of my favorite things to experience is the wisdom of strangers. I am usually the one to strike up conversation with others in coffee shops or waiting in line at the grocery store, which I guess is a little different in the world we live in full of headphones and heads down when walking around (and I respect you if you do, because I usually have my music blaring and I am awkwardly dancing around) but I really do love asking how people’s day has been going and such. And while there is always that one person who just blinks and stares at me, I usually get heartfelt responses. Thank you, perfect strangers. Your wisdom is unmatched. You don’t know me and I don’t know you but we somehow make a connection.

I was driving home one night a couple weeks ago, and had my windows down and while I sat at the stoplight, a guy pulled up next to me, blaring Sam Smith’s “Writing’s On The Wall ” from the James Bond movie. He was singing his heart out and when he realized my windows were also down and I was staring at him, he got red faced embarrassed and turned off the music…. First of all, I love that song and second, why be embarrassed?? I yelled out my window to turn it back on and in that moment, two perfect strangers sang our hearts out to Sam Smith. When the light turned green, I realized that I had actually been in the wrong lane the whole time, adding on 5 extra minutes to my drive home, but as we waved and drove away from each other, I realized that in those moments of singing and connecting, the extra 5 minutes didn’t bug me. In fact, I laughed the whole way home.

SO, what did I learn from this week?

  • When the AC goes out in your building and it’s 80 degrees in November, keep calm and know there is no need to buy an expensive fan from Walmart or Target. Call up your local thrift store and find a life saving  portable fan for $2.
  • If you aren’t excited doing what you’re doing (job, class, relationship, ect;), then why are you doing it? I almost fell out of my chair in one of my classes because I was so excited to answer a question.
  • Listen to NPR. You will stay up to date on the news and learn new things. I aggressively yell at my radio in agreement while I drive to work. Keeps me young.
  • Have a quiet day. I took my first day off in about a month on Sunday and I needed it. Enjoy your time in bed and rest your mind and body. You will thank yourself in the long run. Finally practicing what I preach. S E L F  C A R E.
  • Spend 30 minutes a day doing something calming and therapeutic. For me, I spend 30 minutes listening to Zen Garden music and caring for my plants. I forget my stress and deadlines and focus my energy on calming my body and breathing deeply, considering I have the blood pressure of an 80 year old man, hence the aggressive yelling at the radio. Namaste.

My favorite place to write.

Today’s Mantra:

I AM opening to all the Goodness within me, around me & on its way to me.”

The music this week is a little different than what I normally post but I still dig it.  Enjoy.

There is a need for more love out in the world today. Do your part and love fearlessly.

blessings, A
